5The only fin to use, period.Mar 22, 2006

Viper surfing fins are simply the best bodysurfing or bodyboarding fin on the market. This is the fin used by the best watermen, lifeguards, bodysurfers and bodyboarders in the world. They are designed to provide the maximum thrust from each kick to propell you into every wave you want to catch. I have used these fins for almost 20 years at the Wedge, Pipeline, Teahupoo, and many other heavy bodysurfing spots. I used these fins all duing my years as a lifeguard and have saved many peoples lives wearing them. I always pack a pair in my board bag and have taken Vipers all over the world to swim, surf and dive with.

Don't risk your life with anything else... Vipers are tools not toys!

5So why are these 5 stars?Nov 14, 2008

I picked up a pair of viper V7's (7 for the 7") a few months back and these are just a fantastic set of fins.

First off, the foot pocket has a neoprene padded upper which makes these the most comfortable fin I've ever worn. Secondly, I bought the 7" blades because I'm usually in the bigger surf conditions and the one thing I've always hated about my Churchill's is they can't get me out of stronger currents without a great deal of exertion and effort. Obviously the draw back is a slightly slower take off thrust over that of the V5 but I can more than makeup for that with effective hand paddling. I used to have to switch to an actual Diving (Imprex) fin in huge surf simply for the ability to escape the currents induced by big swell. As any body boarder knows, you have a lot more drag in the water than a surf boarder, and getting caught on the inside is dangerous enough.

But no longer! These fins will definitely get you out there and back even in the big stuff because the power is in their design. Don't cheat yourself, these are worth every penny. I don't peddle anyone's wares very often, but these are just great fins.

5It's like cheating in the surfApr 27, 2011

I grew up in Hawaii and am stationed here now with the military. I've used many different fins over the years (I'm 42 y/o so I've tried a lot). Without question these V7 fins propel me through the water better than anything I've tried. The first day out with my buddy (we each bought a pair) he turned to me and said he felt like we were cheating :). We caught triple the waves we normally would have with our other fins and current wasn't an issue. I've used them in waves up to 6 feet Hawaii scale (12 foot faces) and love them. They allow you to stay way ahead of the white water with a periodic kick while boarding. My only issue is that they're made of such rugid/thick material it rubbed the outside of my ankle and cut it a bit after two hours in the water. Got a fin sock and all is good now. They are a bit expensive, but there is a reason. You're getting what you paid for.

I can't say enough about these fins. I use these almost exclusively for body surfing (but I may buy a body board now that I have these). I just returned from Barbados and must have worn these for 10 hours over five days. Super comfortable with the neoprene top and makes catching the waves a piece of cake. I spent a lot of time standing on coral as well, and they show no wear. Very heavy duty rubber. They never fell off, but they float if they ever do. Small enough to fit in my carry on bag - or a small back pack. I am extremely happy with them and would get them again in a second. I'll never go to the beach without them. Made in the USA, which was a pleasant surprise. Get 'em.
